Senior Residential Childcare Worker

Job Description

You will be hard working, loyal, and understand that only outstanding results for all our young people is the acceptable standard. You will need to demonstrate tenacity, patience, resilience, be full of energy and be able to exhibit compassion while holding firm boundaries.

You will be responsible to support our young people in their daily needs, ensuring that the highest standards of care are met regarding each young person’s physical, behavioural, and emotional needs. The role will include being responsible for leading the shift, rotas, health, and safety, attending meetings, submitting reports and capable of On Call duties.

You will be joining a team and company recognised for its incredible hard work and commitment, evidenced in an Ofsted grading of Outstanding.  You will be expected to be ‘outstanding’ too.

You will need to be able to commit to our rota system that includes day and evening shifts of 15 hours, overnight sleep ins and weekends. More importantly, you will need to commit to being a significant positive influence in the lives of our young people.

Our contract is for a minimum of 150 hours per 28 days. There could be an opportunity for additional hours.

Key Responsibilities


For this position you will need:

  • To be emotionally resilient with a passion to achieve outstanding outcomes for our young people.
  • Have a hands-on approach to the working environment with the ability to both manage up and interact positively with young people.
  • Have excellent presentation and report writing skills, be a passionate, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual who measures their successes by the number of young people they work with having positive outcomes.
  • Be extremely flexible, totally committed, be a staff motivator and have an incredible sense of humour.
  • To be able to commit to the shift pattern of 3 days a week for two weeks including some sleep ins, followed by one day in a week for one week (typically called 3, 3, 1, 3 shifts)

Skills & Experience


  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
  • Have experience of working with 10 – 17-year-olds in a residential setting along with achieving successful Ofsted inspection results.
  • To be over 21
  • To be able to drive

  • A competitive salary – £12.23 per hour during probation, £14.13 per hour once probation passed.
  • Earning potential on a standard contract of 150 hours every 28 days to include sleep ins (average of 6 per month) and attendance bonus:


On probation
– £23,849 basic to £29,129 per annum.

After probation – £27,556 basic to £32,836 per annum.

  • 28 days holiday per year inclusive of Bank Holidays.
